These texts, which have been associated for so many years with The Gospel Magazine, give some indication of what this bi-monthly stands for. We seek to present the Lord Jesus as the only Saviour for a lost world; to edify the people of God; and to promote unity among believers, 'the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace'.
The Gospel Magazine is believed to be the oldest religious periodical still being published. One distinguished editor was the Rev. Augustus Toplady, whose famous hymn, Rock of Ages cleft for me. Let me hide myself in Thee', was first published in these pages.
The Trust Deed of The Gospel Magazine is defined in terms of the Thirty-nine Articles of Religion of the Church of England, but the magazine itself is non-denominational. We aim to provide variety in unity, publishing articles from a wide diversity of past and present writers commited to 'the faith once delivered to the saints.'

Deze teksten, die al vele jaren in verband worden gebracht met The Gospel Magazine, geven een idee van waar dit tweemaandelijkse tijdschrift voor staat. Wij streven ernaar om de Heere Jezus voor te stellen als de enige Zaligmaker voor een verloren wereld, om Gods volk op te bouwen en om de eenheid onder gelovigen te bevorderen, ‘de enigheid des Geestes door den band des vredes’.
The Gospel Magazine wordt beschouwd als het oudste christelijke tijdschrift dat nog steeds wordt uitgegeven. Een vooraanstaande redacteur was ds. Augustus Toplady, wiens beroemde hymne ‘Rock of Ages cleft for me. Let me hide myself in Thee’ voor het eerst in dit tijdschrift werd gepubliceerd.
De statuten van The Gospel Magazine zijn gebaseerd op de Negenendertig Artikelen van de Anglicaanse Kerk, maar het tijdschrift zelf is interkerkelijk. Wij streven naar verscheidenheid in eenheid en publiceren artikelen van een breed scala aan schrijvers uit het heden en verleden die zich verbonden gevoelen aan ‘het geloof, dat eenmaal den heiligen overgeleverd is’.
